Tony Chappel has led the NSW Environment Protection Authority since August 2022, bringing extensive public and private sector experience in sustainability, corporate affairs, risk, governance, regulatory strategy, and policy. With a background in highly regulated industries, he offers a unique perspective on licensee obligations and industry impacts on communities. A strong advocate for a net-zero economy, Tony was instrumental in delivering the EPA’s Climate Change Policy and Action Plan. He works collaboratively with sectors to cut emissions and drive new opportunities. Tony holds master’s degrees in Environmental Change and Management (Oxford) and Environmental Technology (Imperial College, London).
