Dr. Kat Bruce is the Founder and Director of NatureMetrics Ltd, a company she established in 2016 to revolutionize biodiversity assessment through novel molecular tools. These tools enable faster, more cost-effective biomonitoring, providing unprecedented evidence for decision-making in environmental management. Kat trained as a tropical ecologist, earning a PhD in tropical ecology and DNA metabarcoding from the University of East Anglia. She has collaborated widely, leading a working group on DNA techniques in the EU COST Action Project DNAqua-net and contributing to European standards for aquatic eDNA capture. Kat is also a Technical Expert for the BSI and an advisor to the California Molecular Methods Workgroup. She is passionate about bridging the gap between research, business, and policy to drive advancements in environmental monitoring.
