Professor John Thwaites AM is Chair of the Monash Sustainable Development Institute and Climateworks Centre, and a leading voice in Australia’s transition to a net-zero future. A former Deputy Premier of Victoria and Minister for Climate Change, John has led major reforms in sustainability, water, and environmental policy. He co-chairs the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and has held key roles across government, academia, and industry—advancing decarbonisation, climate governance, and systemic change in the built environment.
