David Kennedy is CEO of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and a global leader in sustainability and net zero with over three decades of experience across thirty countries.

He was previously a Partner at EY, advising major companies on net-zero strategy, and served as Director General at the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, leading work on food strategy, nature, and climate. As founding Chief Executive of the UK’s Committee on Climate Change, he established the nation’s carbon budgets and sector pathways.

David holds a PhD from LSE and has been awarded a CBE and CB for public service.
